A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 4, 2017, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be viewing hours Thursday beginning at 6 PM until 8 PM and Friday beginning at 9 AM until 10 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl.  Interment will be in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Pen Argyl. 

Memorials:

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to feed those in need may be offered to St. Joseph’s Ministry, C/O the funeral home, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl, PA 18072.

 


Carl A. Zegalia
 
Born: May 4, 1920
Died: July 30, 2017

Carl A. Zegalia, 97, of Wind Gap, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at St. Mary’s Manor, Lansdale, surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff at St. Mary’s.   He was the husband of the late Lena V. (Verrone) Zegalia, who passed away October 9, 2009.

Born in Bender’s Junction , he was the son of the late Stephen K. and Kathryn (Vasaravic) Zegalia.

Carl was a 1938 graduate of Pen Argyl High School and a graduate of Churchman’s Business College, Easton.

He honorably served his country during World War II in the US Army Air Corps as a Control Tower Operator in Agra, India.

He was employed as an Insurance Agent for Prudential for thirty years prior to retiring in 1980.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Pen Argyl, a Charter member and past Grand Knight of the Father DeNisco Council of the Knights of Columbus, a member the Wind Gap American Legion, and the Nazareth VFW (China-Burma-India).  He was also a member and Past President of the St. Joseph’s and St. Elizabeth’s Holy Name Society, and was one of the organizers of Wind Gap Little League Baseball as well as a manager.

Carl is survived by his son Carl, daughter-in-law Anne Zegalia Lavancher, Gigi O’Brien, grandsons Rocky (Lynn), Joel, Steve and Greg, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sense of humor and his loving and caring family at Walden III.

In addition to his wife, Lena, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen C., brothers Thomas, John, Stephen G., Michael and George and sisters Mary Begovich, Anna Zgela and Kathryn Walk.
