Services:

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 11 AM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, 126 E. Pennsylvania Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be a viewing beginning at 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Ackermanville Cemetery.

 

Memorials:

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in Ruth’s name to First United Evangelical Congregational Church, 25 S. 2nd Street, Bangor, PA 18013.

 


Ruth D. Werner

Died: February 24, 2019

 

Ruth D. Werner, 59, of Bangor, passed away, Sunday, February 24, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus.

Born in Bethlehem, December 4, 1959, she was the daughter of Mae E. (Mitchell) Werner and the late Donald M. Werner.

Ruth was last employed for 10 years in the Guidance office at Pen Argyl High School, prior to that she was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Plainfield Elementary School and Wind Gap Middle School for 18 years. 

She also served as assistant athletic trainer for Pius X, Bangor, and Pen Argyl High Schools and for the Blue Valley Patriots and she also worked as a private duty nurse’s aide.

She was a member of First United Evangelical Congregational Church, Bangor, a member of the former Salem United Methodist Church, Bangor and a 1977 graduate of Bangor High School.

At First United Evangelical Congregational Church, she was of the Official Board President, chair of the missions committee; served on the Pastor Parish Relations committee, the fellowship committee, the worship committee the music committee, Director of the Children’s Choir and sang in the choir.

Ruth also played in the First United Methodist Church, Bangor, Hand Bell Choir for many years and for many years was a volunteer with Liberty Ambulance, Bangor.

In addition to her mother, Mae of Bangor, she is survived by cousins.
